Well...all of this is overwhelming and it feels like nothing can be done about it.
And, that's because there have been a lot of different issues brought up, with a spiderweb of interconnected threads: Thiel, Religion, the same phone number 202-813-9118 attached to filing documents for supposedly independent organizations and it belongs to this Crosby Ottenhoff, Trump and Vance succession, and AI. Have I left anything out?
Anyways - anybody in middle management knows how hard it is to get your employees to do what the people above you want. It's an unachievable struggle.
The best you can do is bring the two sides as close together as possible. This isn't opinion. It's part of organizational theory taught in universities. It applies to businesses, government, non-profits, customers, and the public - including this Rockbridge group.
Has anybody managed to get everybody to stop speeding and breaking speed limits in cars yet? That's the point. One can try, but the nature of human cognition and the various forms of it makes it impossible to manipulate humans like a herd.
But, I'm not saying something like this isn't happening. The Turnip regime has many seperate stakeholder groups trying to end the American experiment. And, Trump with JD Vance are just talking heads for these groups.
So, do you replace Trump with Vance through amd25? Or, do you leave Trump there to block the seat until his lame duck presidency is over?
If he completes his term doing nothing - then in effect Congress would be making all the calls for governance. Is that a safer compromise than having Vance replace Trump? And, remember - if neither are there it's Mike Johnson. But, then again - in 2027, he can be voted out as House Speaker.
But, I want to point out something else about AI. All AI systems today are derivatives of the technology from OpenAI - meaning they all essentially are pattern matching search engines.
AND, just like if you google a topic, the list of suggested websites you get is not complete - there are gaps in the information.
AI has the same problem when it searches for patterns. It finds fragments of them - not complete trees. It ends up with a handful of branches that it has to infer how they fit together to form a tree - that answers the prompt you gave it.
The inferences are probability driven.
It's like how Google ranks what order the sites are returned that you asked for.
So, if you asked AI something like, what's incommon with all these groups? And, AI finds Theil, Vance, Trump, Roberts from Heritage, and the same phone number shows up in the search results - AI will infer they must all be connected somehow. And, it will write it's answer to the prompt in language that connects them.
On the other hand, if you then ask AI to give you links on how two of those items - say the phone number and Vance - are connected, it will often look and come back with "there is no connection between them because there are no links on the internet"
now, AI can source it's LLM or the internet. The LLM is also ranked by probable relationships. The low ones drop out, leaving gaps which the AI then infers to fill them in.
This isn't a bug. It's how cognition of any kind works. Brains fill in gaps with their best guesses - in humans, Catts, dogs, and machines.
The moral? You still have to think for yourself. AI is a great "tool" for synthesis. But, just like you would not ask someone else (say Trump) to take your driver's test, you can't hand everything over to AI to do it because of this inference problem.
What will happen is you will get this intricate web of connections which have different degrees of connectivity - some of them that have been inferred and aren't really there.
I think Peter Thiel should call his next business venture..
