This is the story of an autistic woman of color, Aspen, who was failed by Peach County, GA. Facing ~33 years in prison. She is locked in a legal fight against system that continues to harm people.
The jailors in GA need psychology training. In our local jail, men and women are separated by sight and sound. Inmates with Autism, IDD, and other mental health problems are given help by onsite mental health professionals. Food and water intake is monitored and diets are handled through medical and the chaplains office.
If what happened to her and others in GA happened in Texas, everyone who worked in her ward would be written up and probably fired. But then, Texas jailors have to through jail school and pass the state jailors test.
The struggles of mankind never cease to amaze, and baffle, me. What's wrong with people? Could it be a combination of ingrained racism whose past tentacles continue to reach out and infect Georgia's growing population, especially as African-Americans (not forgetting Atlanta was the home town of Martin Luther King) make up a smaller proportion of the Georgian population and Asians (who largely are very racist, not least Indian immigrants most of whom in Gerogia will come from the higher, and better educated, castes back home.
Right now, I can only envisage things getting worse in the USA, as like we experienced in Brexit Britain, ingrained racism, repressed by laws and civil society, was unleashed on minorities, legal migrants, and amplified by sympathetic media, politicians on the right and far-right, and financed by foreign agents.
I hear that your current president has published a Bible. But, why stop there? Why did he not open a church? A Church for the complainer - the Church of the Grump.
Sour grapes, I normally would have said. Or, maybe that should be a lemon. By the way, Clemens is my name. But, I go by many. Most of you know me as Mark Twain. My wife knows me as the Lazy Buffoon. She's also a complainer. But, I love her very - sort of.
I would think the pulpit should have been a natural stump for Trump, as this church's head Grump. He could have herded masses of Grumps following like sheep - for slaughter or laughter, I'm not sure.
I can't imagine a religion more suited to the complainer, than one where humility is optional and forgiveness is reserved for only those who are politically pardoned.
Trump is a great man of such embraces.
Trump the Great reaches out to all men, and draws them close to his bosom - unless, of course, they really are men. In that case, I need not worry because of the immunity imparted upon me at birth by God. Trump, as you know, got his from a judge.
With one notable exception, that of Mr. Epstein. His kinship was apparently worth the risk of proximity to Trump. They cuddled together all the time, I understand! And, look where that got him - at the dump!
I, on the other hand, have returned from a perfect burial. Not by séance, or by Ouija board, but by the miracle of academic nostalgia.
I had asked some of my work not be published until a hundred years after my death. By then, anybody I wrote badly about should have passed on. I was curious what became of it, and if my wishes had ever been honored.

My son's father died from an ulcer at the age of 41 from medical neglect in Washington County Jail in MD in 1998. I spent 4 months time in jail for a DUI and if you need medical assistance you might just die.
