Our Healthcare system has been broken for years due to insurance & pharmaceutical lobbyists buying politicians. We need universal Healthcare and rid this country of all the middlemen & corporations that stole our health! Healthcare didn't use to be for profit. Approx 75% of medical facilities are now CORPORATE OWNED in America! Notice how healthcare facilities & clinics are now a monopoly? This is thanks in part to Reagan's Trickle-down economics. Bush W. followed with "managed healthcare" policy. Both sides of the isle are to blame! Alot of Dems are not fighting for us. corporate Dems are bought by lobbyists too.
I worked in this system as a nurse and noticed the change really taking affect in the 90's. It was like watching a slow collapse. Nobody would listen to the medical community that could see what was happening. They only cared about the wealthy donors! We the people have been betrayed in so many ways by govt. It's infuriating! I wish we could take them to court in a class action law suit. 😕

Anyway, to the subject,he had a black patient who wanted to change inhalers and requested one he had seen advertised. Doc told him that another worked better in black folk due to slight differences in genetic inheritance. The patient got really disturbed. He started talking about the syphilis experiments and other historic atrocities. Said he had heard it all before and wanted the same inhaler the white people got. Education will need to go both ways. I'm glad to say that Duke teaches it's Doctors racial and gender differences in medicine and being a very well endowed private school, is not likely to change that for one administration run by unqualified bigots no matter what dress or lipstick they put on the pig.
In the 2010's I was working for a biotech company on a drug for pre-eclampsia. A condition that causes the pregnancy to have to end sometimes very early. The clinical trial used mostly poor black women and failed not because the cohort receiving the drug didn't do better but because the little bit of care the placebo group got compared to what they normally receive made a significant difference to the patient outcomes!
It really takes a special kind of stupid doesn't it? Same tired story here. I told my daughter to never let anyone ignore her.
I was so proud for many years of my ER. We were really concerned about just that, sending someone home particularly female inappropriately. Just a great little hospital. Then came the consolidations and mergers. I do not have to tell you the toll that takes. Are we morally injured enough yet?
These people , these representatives for American men and women , are sorely lacking in their attitude towards humanity and compassion .

The Republican Party in recent years has prided itself on being exclusive , judgmental and intolerant . They fancy themselves as “ better than “ almost anyone they talk about . They hate diversity . They hate equality . They have joined the MAGA CI ( Celebrate Ignorance) cult .
