We need to act before ICE is reinforced.

Getting folks into ICE to gum up the works while theyre still hiring all these new forces would be helpful as well (and possibly the most dangerous kind of activism)

There's enough evidence to show the election was tampered, and plenty of clips of elites boasting about it. Because they belive they're untouchable.

That's when they get sloppy. Recount the election, reverse all the harm they've done by nulllifying EOs and laws passed this year.

And motion to ban the party from running for a decade or more. Hell, dissolve parties and make candidates explain their gd plans. Make it illegal to lie about campaign plans, to lie to the people (excluding top secret stuff of course).

Dismantle the supreme court and banish for life all Federalist Society members. Force accountability and prevent this greed-ridden corruption by preventing candidates taking any money. Use communal funds, i.e. we donate to the cause and that money gets divided evenly for candidates. No corporate ownership or favors.

Reestablish a series of strong checks and balances. Watchdog groups that actually have prosecutory authority over each othet, etc.

Don't stop with the strike. Start with the strike. It's time to rebuild what the ogliarchs oha e destroyed. Reverse the privatization of communal needs. Require news agencies to actually tell the fkn truth or face treason charges.

We shouldn't have to fight to have decent behaviors from people in power.

I think dismantling the supreme court would be counterproductive. Removing the treasonous members, Certainly! Putting in term limits, Absolutely. But it serves a purpose.

Syndicated Entropy's avatar

Yeah, I worded that poorly. I didn't mean to get rid of it entirely, but to get rid of the obviously corrupted members who take bribes and call it gifts, while supporting specific candidates, etc. And then judging against how previous courts have interpreted the laws.

We need intelligence in our governing body. Politics can be useful, but we need problem solvers. Laws don't solve problems, they punish people, and do so unfairly (if I dumped thousands of gallons of toxic waste in a canal and that directly resulted in deaths of humans, I would be charged and sent to prison for the rest of my life. But if Tesla does it, its an accident and a pathetic fine is enough).

But then what? Even if interference and fraud can be proven at this point, the election results were certified. Who is going to enforce anything? Especially once he has his ICE army in place? Congress? SCOTUS? They’re part of the corruption.

It should've been done immediately after the election, & it should never have been certified. But Democrats bizarrely were more concerned about looking like election denialists than the disastrous corrupt, fascist regime they had every reason to believe would come under Trump. A massive betrayal of the American people by everyone in authority with the power to forestall the installation of Trump in power!

I certainly do not disagree that more should have been done right from the get go. However, just like this conversation about a general strike is scary, unpredictable, costly, & so many other things. I can understand that the Democrats were feeling all the same things, & just like this conversation, there were many different opinions/concerns. Mostly they didn't have the majority of public support at that time. Now they do, I want the people with influence to do more, absolutely! I don't have any good answers, but I believe any actions need to be coordinated to be successful.

I posted this comment down below - way down below, so I'm re-posting it here for anyone who might be interested:

First, I've been watching the numbers on the generalstrike, and it is indeed going up, albeit rather slowly. It went up by six in the past twenty minutes.

Just a note about security: I signed the strikecard with the name "Winston Smith", and used a proton email address that I just created. I also entered a dummy phone number. Obviously that's not my real name either. This way, Trumpkopf's Gestapo will have a hard time tracking me down.

Good luck everyone.

I signed up 100,000+ signatures ago and it was this year. It is growing and the discord groups ARE organizing. They’re actually doing the work. I hope the wet blanket comment gets corrected.

Also it’s wrong to dismiss the protests as ineffective. Nobody has ever believed they would be the only tactic we needed but I’ve watched the growth this year and it’s building resistance muscles and networks and it is vital.

It's a great reminder of the imperative that we continue to Rise! Resist! ✊✊✊

The next nationwide rally is July 17. Be there or be square!

We need at least 3.5% of the population, or around 12,000,000 people to be present. So bring all your friends and families. Spread the word as far and wide as possible. Let's all get out there with a Howard Beale spirit and yell "We're as mad as hell, and we're not gonna take it anymore!".

I'm not really sure who can really afford to go on strike at this time. People working for any government entities would just get fired. And with the current state of the economy I doubt that many in the private sector would consider it either. I'm retired, so I'm not a valid candidate for a strike. Nation wide rolling boycotts might be a better approach. One week for each auto maker, Walmart, Amazon, Starbucks, McDonald's, etc.. It might hurt the economy enough to get some people's attention.

We can’t afford not to go on strike. The longer we wait, the higher the price/cost becomes. It doesn’t take everybody. Some key places to look: garbage collectors, auto mechanics, truck drivers, electrical company employees - in none of those cases does that work go away, and there will be plenty of paid hours to clean up the mess after the strike is off. I’m positive you could think of other examples. Farm workers? Meat processors? Think about the kind of work we all depend upon, don’t see, and perhaps don’t appreciate. Those workers get a twofer - bring down this regime and remind us all how important their work is. Air traffic controllers? Railroad workers? Auto workers? Let the invisible workers of our nation demonstrate how important they truly are. It would be a good lesson for all of us.

I’m also retired. I don’t have the financial resources to give to the hundreds of aid requests I receive daily. I am boycotting shopping, eating out, buying gas, etc. until July 8. The mortgage and utilities are automatically deducted, so it’s just a pitifully small action and I have no delusions about just how pathetic it is. My mood vacillates between fury, depression, and terror, with occasional transcendent moments of hope and faith. Even seemingly small actions have a cumulative effect. Another overlooked item: pay off debt, don’t use credit cards. Every dollar of debt has a positive effect on the economic numbers. When you pay that off, it removes that positive number. If we all paid off our cars, credit cards, etc, and don’t take on any new debt, I think it would shock a lot of people.

Doing what we can, together, is what's important. If friends strike and they get fired, boycot the people who fired them. That's how you make them realize they can't do that. Only needs one company getting massive backlash to set the precident.

Young adults who live with parents are particularly ideal, because they can be seen and still safe. Protest and march in shifts, so there's always people present, etc.

The boycott of Target is hitting the company’s bottom line. I think bigger and more penetrating boycotts would definitely have an effect. I’m also retired so I gave no job to stay home from. I write here on Substack. That’s what I can do. I think anything more active is beyond my skill set these days. But also some kind of general strike might be effective. Strike at a time when business expects to do well. Start this fall by buying Back To School stuff now then stay away from stores in August and September. Don’t buy anything holiday themed for Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. Retailers make most of their money for the year in these months. Take that away from them, either for a day, a week, or a month. Stay home. Don’t order online either, and especially cancel your memberships in Amazon. Make them pay for donating to the orange criminal and his cronies. After all, Venice fought back against Jeff Bezos. We can too!

Be careful about not paying taxes. The IRS has traditionally taken a side eye to it. Even with vastly reduced staff, they will come after people who make less, not millionaires or billionaires. They can garnish your wages, seize your assets, and so on. Many of us wanted to do this during the Vietnam war, but not many did. Tax evasion is a federal crime.

I love the idea of a general strike. But we are now at a point where we should expect the government to respond with extreme violence and retribution to any kind of strike that takes money out of their control and pockets. I believe we should do it en masse for at least one week! A repeat of covid restrictions in a way. We made it through the first week of that without anything being opened!! We have to set up food banks and work with small local farmers who can help feed large amounts of people so we can show them that we literally don't need corporate america to survive. If we find a way to get the basic essentials set up outside of the governments and corporations reach, they will freak completely out. That means local organization of every resource that can provide food, medicine and medical support. We have to be prepared for the electricity and water to be shut off and that force might be needed to regain control of those resources. I believe we are facing a different kind of tyranny this time in history. We literally have the most powerful government in the world along with the most corrupt and wealthiest people in the world against us!! Trying like hell to destroy our constitution and our laws as fast as possible so they can take over and rule us like we are literally back in the 1500's of Europe!! I believe this requires a complete shutdown of everything for as long as it takes, and if it's even done half ass, it will make the point and cause extreme financial loss for the oligarchs for an extended amount of time. Remember the world is on our side and is waiting for us to organize and act. And I honestly believe that the majority of our military will not harm the citizens of our country. We have to organize now and get out the gameplan asap!!

Actually, with estimates of 11-13.7 million actually "illegal" immigrants along with 1.5 million asylum seeking immigrants, all at risk of being deported under the Drumpf administration, 3.5% of the population might be attainable. There are currently large numbers of immigrants that are simply, and justifiably, afraid to go to work. Both the construction and farming industries are suffering severe shortages of personel, particularly in states that are currently experiencing a large ICE presence. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that you can count on a historical statistical tipping point to achieve the desired goal.
