With such a bill, if passed by the Senate, the nation may as well fire all the judges, and turn the courts into retail stores and shopping centers.

And it’s retroactive: whether issued prior to… so current TROs where the bond was waived would be unenforceable.

There are several things in the bill I read that would diminish the courts and give extreme power to the President. We have to stop this bill but I’m very worried it will pass and then I’m afraid we are doomed. It definitely interferes with fair elections which probably means no more elections.

Hi DiB - Thanks for explaining this sneaky and disturbing rule change in accessible terms - is there nothing these toxic and cruel GOPs won’t do to inflict pain and suffering?!

Perhaps a wealthy democrat (George Soros?) could put up a fighting fund to pay security bonds and take the fight back to these ghouls …

The Constitution has not protected most poor people yet, and it’s been nearly 250 years. The statement that everyone is equal and deserves equal rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness describes a socialist agenda. The Tories never bought that and now the Unamerican Tories are ascendant. Your reasoning is sound, but does not quite reach far enough.

To clarify: the quote from the Declaration of Independence was given as it must be considered, first and foremost, as underpinning the Constitution.

One ray of hope in the darkness is that this is a POLICY item, not a budget item. Why is this important? Because if a budget bill is just that, a bill that ONLY contains budget items, in cannot be filibustered in the Senate. If if has policy items, it can be filibustered. If this bill can be filibustered there will have to be MAJOR changes to get it passed in any form.

They want us to feel powerless so we stop fighting. Let’s surprise them and act in creative loving ways to be of service and help—these people are on the front lines, we can be a peaceful Calvary and come to the rescue of humans and human rights.

Don't judges typically have the authority to set the amount of a bond? If so, what is to prevent them from setting the bond at $10 instead of $10,000?
